Black Asahi doesn't get my vote...

Unless you live in a cave, you know that Barak Obama is our new president. Well, I take that back. I'm sure somewhere Bin Laden is in a cave, and even HE knows that Obama is the new leader of the USA. The Good Beer Country Boys are very proud to call Barak our new president, and think that it's about time that we had a good black man at the helm. Hell, the old white guys have been giving it their best shot for the last few years...and all things considered, what could it hurt?

Black Barak is very good.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same for Black Asahi.

Nate and I were ready for another Beer Battle Royale, and all we needed was a new challenger for The Black Malts. Low and behold, what do we find in the small over-priced liquor store near the McD's hear Toyohashi station? Asahi Black. Well well!
nate and I quickly buy two of the Asahi Blacks, thinking that they could rival the delicious Black Malts that we had tasted earlier in the day.
Were we wrong. Asahi Black is exactly what it says. It is Asahi beer that when poured into a glass is a dark color that resembles the color black. That's about it. Not much taste, no roasted malt goodness, no lasting flavor. It is black beer. It says something on the can about being Munich style...but I think that was just a misprint. Nothing about this beer said Munich or style.
If you find yourself roaming around town and come across this strange looking, and yes inviting, can of Asahi Black, don't buy it. Reach for The Black Malts instead.
And in case you are wondering, The Good Beer Country Boys are NOT sponsored by Suntory, nor do we recieve any monetary compensation for our extensive promotion of Suntory's The Premium Malt's Black.

YET.
