The Tokyo Real Ale Festival is Sunday, February 15. That is not this weekend, but the next. Miyuki and I will be there as volunteers pumping that real ale. I know that some of the people that read this blog are going to be there, but I'm sure there are others, with no plans that weekend, that need a little push over the edge. Well, this is that push. Go to the Real Ale Festival. Here is a list of the beers that will be there...in English! Iwate is bringing a special version of their IPA. Santkegarden and Kinsachi are both dropping in with their respective Imperial Chocolate Stouts. Uh, yum? Shiga Kogen is bringing something called a Not-So-Mild Ale which I do Not-So-Know much about but, hey, it's Shiga Kogen. Sumidagawa Golden Turd Brewing is bringing their porter, I'm guessing the chocolate one you can drink inside the Black Cube Base of the Eternal Flaming Shit, or whatever it is Asahi calls that building.
Hakusekikan is stepping up with some of their body odor smelling Golden Ale. I'm not so excited about that. Baird Beer, the renegade western brewer from Numazu, is throwing in their Ganko Oyaji (cranky old man?) Barleywine and a beer simply called Bakayaro. I think that means Dumbass. Also, beers from Hitachino Nest, Harvestmoon, Yaho and many others. Remember, these are all real ales. So they will be naturally carbonated, handpumped, and delicious. You can't buy this at your local "well-to-do" expensive food store. You gotta come to the festival and say hello to Miyuki and I. Click o the link above, navigate around, and there is alot of information in English.
