Miyuki just informed me that pictures of herself and yours truly has appeared on Ginga Kogen's blog in connection with the Grande Biere Tasting Party. If you want to see said picture or can read Ginga Kogen's blog (I can't) then check it out here. After the pictures of the banners on the floor, there is a shot of an attractive couple from the back as they talk to someone with an important position at Ginga Kogen. The next picture is that same attractive couple posing with the same important person whose name has slipped my mind. We'll call him Ginga-san. If you don't feel like clicking the link, but want to see the picture anyway, please direct your eyes below this sentence.

Ginga Kogen is preparing to take the next step in beer distribution. Some super-secret promotional materials and product were displayed at Grande Biere and another Good Beer Country Boy that is not me, managed to get his hands on some. I don't want to spoil someone else's future post, so I will shut up now.

You try their pale ale? Nasty.
You hear the story about a certain press conference given by their 'chief brewer'?
Good weissen and wheat beer and good value at 260yen. The old beers they used to have were good too. Liked their stout and the Munich lager. Used to have a few restaurants in Tokyo. Hope the new beers will be better than the pale ale.
Their pale ale sucks. I made DH drink it at Grande Biere. We were talking to the dude and I told him DH was really excited about the pale ale and he had never tried it. DH, not wanting to be rude, got his glass filled, drank and smiled through it. I didn't hear about the press conference...
That bastard Nate. He looked at the lady and told her I wanted a heaping portion of their pale ale. I didn't have the heart to refuse. I drank it all but i wasnt happy about it. Well, I wasnt mad, it was beer--but still. The gall.
You should've rewarded Nate with a nice pint of caramel sweet. That stuff was fantastic. Unforgettable taste. I think the volunteer told me it was made without yeast. WTF?
It seems these guys were trying to be part of the "top 5" for a while in late 90s but failed, over-extended themselves by buying or building 4-5 national sized breweries and then fell flat on their face and got sold. Weird story. I dig their weizens, especially for the price, though, as is the general opinion here, the Pale Ale sucks. As chewy said, their Munich lager also used to be pretty good. I hope they come up with good stuff at decent prices to challenge the status quo.
