It's a Crazy World...

It's been an eventful couple of weeks here in Japan and around the world. First, we had a J-pop phenom get arrested after being drunk and naked in a park in Tokyo. Now, I'm not one to make fun of others for things that transpire while being intoxicated--any man who has made a mistake or two while drinking a tad too much has a special place in his heart for others who get caught slippin'. What does strike me is that this dude said he only drank 10 glasses of beer and sake before heading to the park. Friends, I've seen Nate drink more than that for breakfast. I've seen some of my boys back home put down a case. I've even seen one of my bestest buds put down 6 1/2 liters of Hofbrau Beer in about two hours...after drinking beers all day. Granted, he was drunk....but he didn't strip down in public.

But on the other hand, I've seen some girls who would do much more than strip down after only a beer or three. Unfortunately due to a little thing called the "statute of limitations", I am unable to elaborate.

Straying from the beer world, we've got the pig flu running wild. If your Japanese friends and coworkers are like mine--they are FREAKING out about the pig flu and many of them have asked if my family is still alive. Hope you and yours stay pig flu free.

It seems that Asahi may be making a little money, as Tsingtao posted profits this quarter that were up 54%. Seems like this was brought on by.....lowering taxes??!!?? Take a hint Japan.

My "Drink Beer and Carry On" shirt came in. I'll be sporting it this week in The Fishmarket Taproom in Numazu and Gotemba Kogen. Get yours here.

Summer's on the way people. Get Ready.

Hey, when are you going to be at the Fishmarket Taproom? I might be able to wander over for a beer with you, depending on the day and time. Some new beers just got put on today for Golden Week -- good time to head on down.

We're gearing up for the summer season -- lots of brewing has been going on, and a lot more is planned for the coming months. Today I made our Rainy Season Black Ale -- and black is an understatement. This one is going to be good good good -- well, good if you like black beers with lots of hops.

Chris....what does Sunday look like for you? I think we may head into town after lunch and make an afternoon of it. I'd like nothing better than to drink some good brew with you and meet up! What kind of Golden Week Beers can you tempt us with???

I'll say it before, I'll say it again:

Baird Beer is the BEST beer in Japan. People, if you haven't tried their beer--do everything in your power (within the law) to get your hands on some.

Hope to see you Sunday!

DH, Sunday may be difficult.
May have to start cycling on Sunday, so I'll be up at Fujisakura for Sun night.
Unless we do the Izu thing...
Highly recommend visiting Sylvans too, plus Beyernmiester, if you've never been there.
Yes, Baird is great, but they're not the only girls in town.su

Sorry, wrong Chris.
Damn and blast.
At least this way round, no one was calling me 'bakayaro!'.
Not THIS time round, anyway.
There's always next time.

DH -- I'll know about Sunday (tomorrow!) this afternoon. My schedule is "flexible" these days, and I don't know what I'm doing from day to day -- or sometimes from hour to hour. If I'm in town and not working, I'll stop by Taproom and have a pint with you.

Cheers,

The Chris that works at Baird.

DH: No worries. My bike is now back on the road!
More interesting beer brewer Chris: Good luck with the brews! Columbus is out in Naka Meguro - lovely. Temple Garden too.

Well, it looks like I'll be out of town today -- bummer. Life has cruel ways of giving me shit when something fun comes up. Hope you guys all have fun, and hope you enjoy the beers at the Taproom.

I'm in Tokyo again; and I believe Bryan Harrell and myself shall go to Beer Club Popeye Wednesday night.
