To keep you reading on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon, check out this article by Molly Browning, who (small world!) used to be an apprentice brewer for Baird Beer in Numazu. The article gives props to Baird (we like that) and tells about a few mishaps that took place during Baird's early days. The article doesn't go too in depth about Japanese craft beer...in fact what struck me most was the Pink Boots Society. The Pink Boots Society is a group of women brewers that want to promote more women in the business of craft beer.
What say you about women brewers? We all know that Minoh's Double IPA was made by a woman, but at the same time Loreley's assistant brewer was a woman....so...
Here's my stance: Women can make some great beer. Women can also make some bad beer. I don't care who makes the brew as long as it is good. Women!!!! Hear me! Brew away and make some great suds for us all!!
However, I have only met one girl who could drink more beer than me--and she was an A. a bonafide meeting-going all day sauce dranking punch you in the face when I'm drunk and then cry alcoholic and B. a big girl. That being said, if you are a girl-- I can drink more beer than you--and thus--my masculinity is secure.

I met her about a year and a handful of months ago up at the Numazu taproom. She was having a pint after work. I drank Baird's one time only Barrel aged Double Piston Ale.
She's working back in the US now it appears. I wonder...are there even any women that read this site?

Well, I meant someone other than a girlfriend or a best friend. My mom reads it, but I don't think she counts either!!!!

Its Browning, not Brown. She also was a brewer at Baird and only started as an apprentice.
TimE, I noticed that it said Browning on the Pink Boots page, but thie article said Brown. Say it however you want--but she must be good.

Ushi Tora had a 'women of beer' event a month or 2 back that featured the female brewers from Iate Kura, Loco, Minoh and Harvestmoon. It was a great event.
Molly is now brewing over at Jolly Pumpkin in Ann Arbor (an interesting brewery).
She can put a few away, however, after a while, she's liable to attempt backward somersaults, so I'd stand waaaaay back, if I were you. Know another lady who can drink me under the table (that's not meant to sound dirty) and also just happens to look fantastic in a bikini. I'm not saying Molly doesn't look fantastic in a bikini. I'm also not saying I've seen Molly in a bikini. She's gonna kill me, now.
p.s. DH, some b*astard's done the same thing with my swimtrunks! They crept in and sneakily changed them for a couple of sizes smaller. There must be a trend going round. At the same time, his doctor friend put his liposuction machine into reverse and somehow injected me with fat old lady hips. That SOB.
