Baisen Sapporo, Kirin Golden Moment, Cola Shock

Sapporo's Baisen Beer dropped May 12th into convince stores near you. Anyone out there felt like throwing a few hundred yen into the wind and trying it?

If that doesn't suit your fancy, why not wait until June 24th when you can drink Kirin's Golden Moment (Kokunojikan). Looks like a fancy can of peepee juice if you ask me...

Beer not your thing? That's OK sissy boy, you can always have this lovely item to drink while you watch ice skating and talk about fashion:

Hey guys, it's Red from Portland again. This week, I was in Milwaukee, the historical beer heartland of the U.S. Man, what a disappointment. You talk about pee pee juice in Japan, I think Milwaukee takes the prize here -- nothing but crap macrobeer. BTW, keep up the good work with the blog!

RED! Have your check out Ise Kadoya's blog and read about Suzuki-san's adventures in New York? Good Stuff.

Did you drink some Beast Ice up there?

Just slugged back a can of the Sapporo on the walk back from my station- meh. Boring, though a touch more flavor than most pales. It isn't worth a second go-around, though

Hey DH. No, I avoided the "Best" up there. However, I did have my hopes up for Leinenkugel's, which all Wisconsin natives seem to SWEAR by. I was hoping to show some love, but found out it's now owned by Miller. 'Nuff said.

Leinenkugel's is ok. They make a beer called Sunset Wheat that tastes exactly like fruity pebbles. It's freaky.

I chugged acan of the sapporro in karaoke last night. It was logn time no scream for karaoke and long time no chug for a big 4 in a can, so I killed two unappreciative husbands with one poisoned curry, as it were. I think 'Baisen' is Japanese for 'bland'. Got mostly smooth malt and very little flavour or hops. Even smeleld like it had been open for a while, though I'd jsut opened the can. Nothing special at all. Pics on the Drinking my Brains blog soon. Thanks for the heads up, though. You never know how a beer is gonna go down until it does.

Red, whomever was leading you around Milwaukee was not your friend.
How could you have missed Lakefront Brwy. on Commerce Ave. north of downtown, Sprecher in Glendale (only been around since 1985), and the two brewpubs in downtown, Water Street, & the Milwaukee Ale House?!
How about the best package shop as well, Discount Liquors at Oklahoma and 51st Ave. Madon!

Tried the Baisen and thought it was so-so. Had three cans just to make sure. The best thing about it, IMO, is the label text, which said something bombastic like, "with its mixture of roasted and aromatic hops, it even SMELLS delicious!"

It didn't though, really...

John, what is there to compare against...
