Saturday morning I'm (and maybe Nate and his ole lady) heading into Nagoya to tour either (or both of) the Kirin or Asahi factory. It's been over two months since I have done one of their brewery tours and you know that is far too long. Why am I going to drink some of the freshest mediocre macro lager in the land? Why, do you ask? Well friends, because it is free. If one were to hit both factories, one could feasible consume 6 free beers. That friends, is nothing to sweep under the rug.
After that I plan on hitting the local spots to see what kind of jibeer I can scare up, and then after my ole' lady arrives, we're headed to The London Pub Towser for some good brew. It's been far too long since I have been back there, and the good beer they have on tap will bring a tear to an Aichi-good-beer-starved eye: Minoh Double IPA, Baern Maibock, Fujizakura Rauch, Iwate Real Ale IPA, Baird Shizouka Summer Mikan Ale, and Iwate Oyster Stout to name a few. I'm excited.
Of course, if you are in the Aichi area, come by and have a brew at Towser with us.
And lastly, I will leave you with a pic of the Good Beer Country Boys grilling out in Tahara last weekend. The weather was great, friends were aplenty, and we had more seafood than you can shake a stick at. We had clams, mussels, and oysters--all which were procured from the bay.....by us...and the mussels and oysters were free! Of course, we also grilled out burgers and sausages. It was delicious. Oh yeah, and we drank The Premium Malt's.
On another note: Is the US seriously thinking about taxing beer to pay for health care??
Also, the event is already full for this weekend, but if you don't know about Beers for Books, check them out. I met Gary at Grande Biere in Tokyo and he was passionate about this cause. It's a great way to give back while you throw down a pint or two. I hope that we can bring a B4B event to Aichi!
