The Last Street Drank

Nate and I had a great Saturday in Nagoya. It could have been the last time Nate and I will street drink in Nagoya!!!! Like he told you, he started the day with an Anchor Summer Beer before we embarked on the Asahi factory tour, always a good start to the day. We have done the tour so many times that two of the lady tour guides told us hello, and long time no see. Think about if we lived in Nagoya??!!

After that we found the good beer store Okadaya, near Nagoya station. I will give Nate a bit of Hell since he couldn't find the place, and it turns out it is really close to the station. We finally found the place by asking the drivers of a beer truck where the Okadaya store was. They told us matter-of-factly that it was just around the bend. Which brings me to some advice jibeer lovers: when in doubt, ask the beer man.

We bought a few good brews and spit some game with the girl in the beer store since she was female and knew a lot about jibeer. She wasn't smoking hot, but hey--knowledge about beer covers up a multitude of sins. The girls there can speak a bit of English, and the shop is nice and cozy. If I lived in Nagoya, I would frequent it often.

After a few round there, we made our way to Sakae (with the help of a few Turkish sandwiches). Once there we switched to The Premium Malt's and kicked it in the tiny park near Spirits. We had two big 'uns each and smoked some Backwoods. Good times.

Then it was time for us to head back to Toyohashi. Of course, not before stopping back by Okadaya and Seijo Ishii to grab a few rounds for the train ride home. Lovely day. When I arrived back in Toyohashi though, my girlfriend was less than amused.

On to some beer news, check out Stone's Juxtaposition Black Pilsner. (brewed with Cambridge and Brew Dog!!!) If you remember, we did an interview with James Watt of BrewDog way back at the beginning of the blog, and we just did Greg Koch! Impressed yet? I think I should get a case of this stuff in the mail as a gift!!!

Also check out this sweet Stone birthday cake.

If you don't know yet, we are having a Good Beer Meet-up this weekend in Numazu!!!! We are going to be hitting Baird's The Fishmarket Taproom Saturday (27th) afternoon and having a good time. If you are in the area, come and check it out. Hopefully a few of the Tokyo boys can come down, and good times will ensue. If you have never been to The Taproom before--now is your chance!

27th is out, but on the 28th, I will ensure I am down there for mid-afternoon at the latest (2-3pm), so I can swig some beer with you boys for AT LEAST a couple of hours. I will give Nate a call that day and let you know my ETA. Since it is mid-afternoon, I think I will need to stick to Milds for the first couple of pints.

I'm gonna try (stress TRY) to make it down Saturday. I have a bunch of work related stuff to get done this week and I have to prepare for an early next week underway. But, if all that gets done then I'll be at the Taproom the 27th. I haven't been down there yet so it's as good a time as any.

I think they started bottling the justaposition black sometime today.
Personally, I'm looking forward to the 13th anniversary ale.
Not sure if Chuwy will be in Numazu. Today is is so hucking fot. The ocean seems tempting...
Definitely plan on being down there for the 10th anniversary.
Did you ask Bryan to put on some interesting beers for the weekend? He may do for you guys. Most of his beers are pretty interesting, come to think about it.
Hope you both havea great weekend, no matter what happens. Watch out for those rocks - the beach is full of them!

How come I only got 2 exclamation marks, when Tim got 3?
Shouldn't complain, at least I didn't get a question mark, like poor Nicholas.
Will see what happens, as I never know where I'll be (or where I am, half the time)!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, I think that was about 7 or 8 there. Maybe even 10.
^-^

Guys, I'll do what I can to get my ass in to work early on Sunday and then hopefully get done by 4:00 or so. But, it all depends on what the boss has me do that day, and I won't know until I show up on Sunday morning. If I'm brewing by myself, then getting done early is a possibility. If I'm packaging with Bryan, then I probably won't get out of there until 5:00 no matter what time I go in.

Sorry, that's the best I can do.

Guys, I think we will be in until early afternoon on Sunday as well. We plan on just takin' her easy--maybe grabbing some sushi and brews and relaxing in the little park near by if the weather will let us. I'd love to meet up with everyone before we head back. Also...I will be going back to KY this summer--I'll be taking orders on what brews I should bring back!

You saying you won't get to Numazu until Sunday afternoon, or that's whe you're leaving Numazu?

DH said...

Chuwy--we will get to Numazu around lunchtime on Saturday. We plan on kicking it all day and hitting the taproom a few times, and staying for good in the evening. We will be there on Sunday until 4-5ish.....

Will we see you there?

If everything goes ok and my bike is still on the road, I may pop down to Numazu perhaps Fri night or Sat morning. I want to do a small trip over to Hansharo and drink some (all) beer there. The 7 hop ale is gonna be the seasonal soon. Right now its the wheat lager or something. I'm hoping the 7 hop will be on tap on Sat. Then later on perhaps cycle back to Numazu and have a pint or seven. I'll prob bring my tent and crash in the park. Have a nice swim in the ocean in the daytime, occasionally popping ot the gents to let off a few bottle rockets of my own. Izu isn't far away, so may pop over there for some R&R down at the beach. I could always do Gotenba Kogen on the Friday night. Maybe try and get Scott out for a pint or nine. p.s. the 7 hop ale is now on tap in Pangaea, so I'll pop out there later tonight to check it out. If it ain't fantastic, then "Lucy, you got sum 'splainin' to do!"
I'll keep an eye out for boogers and phlegm in the glass. I heard you boys added your 'special sauce'.

OK. I am pretty much sorted for Sunday afternoon. As mentioned my ETA is 2-3pm. May bring down a bottle of something to share, but not sure. It will be cool if lots of us are there. I do have requests for Kentucky. Likewise, if you have requests from Alberta , please let me know(and Capa will be in Ohio). We need to plan a big late Aug/early Sept piss up.
