Come on! Anchor makes some good beer and I have drank the Summer Beer in America before. That means either Seijo Ishi or Mitsui Foods (Anchor importer) dropped the ball. Someone let this beer get hot during it's journey. This isn't the Liberty Ale or Old Foghorn Barleywine. This is a 4.6% wheat beer.
After the interview with Greg Koch and him stressing the importance of their beer being refrigerated on its way to Japan, this is just bullshit. I shouldn't have to pay 400 yen for a skunked beer. Mad props go to Andrew at Nagano Trading and Phred at Izu Beer for having standards. All of the Stone, Rogue, Bear Republic, Green Flash, Speakeasy, etc, I have drank in Japan has been in tip-top shape.Have anyone else had problems with heat damaged imports in Japan? Has anyone drank an Anchor Summer Beer this season?

I've had some truly awful imports -- including some Rogue beers that were extremely old and/or damaged in transit. I can't really remember what most of them were now because I tend to put bad beers out of my mind quickly!
And, to be totally fair, I've had some truly awful Japanese craft beers as well. [ha ha ha]
Honestly I think Andrew is the only one that refrerrs his beers. No other importer does as far as I know.
All the beers Nate mentioned were Andy's and the rogues are... ...another person's imports.
Yes, Andy brings the beer over in good condition but that's no guarantee that once it leaves his hands, the distributor or bar won't just leave the stuff out in the summer heat. Get it fresh and sotre is yourself seems the only way. Educating the masses is a slow process. My local beer store keeps on putting the big 4 crap in the refridgerators and the good stuff out in the heat. Perhaps it's because the fridges are paid for by the big 4 and they insisted only their beer went in there?
I've mentioned it to them a few times but they don't seem to care. I don't buy booze there any more.
Sat was a good day for sure!!!! I think we put down 13 each...by 5PM. Got an earful when I got home!
13 330ml botles? Any more than that and there's a danger of you boys getting drunk. (-_^)
U guys try the ozenoyukidoke ipa? Seijuishii stocks it. That and the barleywine are nice brews. I never did like the anchor summer ale. Don't like American wheat beers. Sour and bitter. I like my fruity Germans! Looks like the weekend is gonna be another f**k up. Everyone got their own thing on. I may pop down on my little bike and day trip to hansharo. Then back to taproom. If the weather is good. If not then will prob stay home. Still have the bad tooth and am banned from drinking.
