Asahi Gold Lager Beer 9/29!!!! アサヒゴールド

Well, Asahi might not have an IPA out yet....but hold on to your seat! They do have their Asahi Gold Lager Beer coming out on September 29th, 2009!!! Yee Haw!

This 5% throwback label brew containing hops, malt and rice is going to excite and entice all around! I will admit that the design of the can is nice...but I'd bet a shiny nickel that it tastes just like every other beer that the Big 4 put out....

Don't let that discourage you though folks! Run to your nearest convenience store and buy up a few cans! Even if they don't taste too good, you can still 'throw back' a few of these throwbacks!

*** Dont't forget about the new Asahi Mugi Shibori (麦搾り)coming out on 9/15 as well!!! Another great happoshu that has head and gut aches included!

I would probably get one just for the design, the one with the autumn colors from Kirin it's also very nice.

This site has nice a collection of cans.

Hey DH, I actually have a real Asahi golden oldie can in my basement beer can collection -- it is indeed a nice design.

I'll be back in ole Nippon in November -- hopefully, Gold Lager will still be around...

No offence intended and this is meant as constructive critism but aern't you meant to be a blog on jibeer? your web address suggests as such.

However more often than not you *advertise* beers from the major producers. I know its sometimes difficult to get information about local beer. Maybe you could join the beerinjapan forums. There is a lot of useful information there.

Jonno! No offense taken ol buddy ol pal;)

We (I-now!) try to blog as much as we can about the best beers in Japan, which (of course) are usually jibeers. But, for sure I'll write about any brews here...big 4 or otherwise!

Many cats who read this blog are not the super jibeer fans like the ones that exist in the Tokyo scene. I hope I can provide info and maybe entertain the jibeer geeks and casual beer drinkers of Japan alike.

For many of the ALTs out there (my crowd!) jibeer is very hard to find and read about. Beerinjapan.com has some great info and is a good resource for sure!

I usually write about Asahi and the other big 4's with a little tongue in cheek...

That being said...I'll be in Tokyo on the 22nd....fancy a meetup?

Jonno is back in Australia. you'll have to make do with me. Gotta hit the Yokohama beer festival and the Aldgate for their great IPA festival. Tim E will also be out of the country, as will quite a few other beer fans in Tokyo.

Chuwy...is it a date for next Tuesday? Any idea of Aldgate's lineup? Booozelist?

Hi, The name is Asahi Gold Revival in Japanese apparently (in case you didn't know).
The story on the can says that it was the first canned larger released in Japan (in 1959) - hence the revival name.

hmm. I'm guessing that should have been "lager" not "larger"...
