Don't click this link if you don't want to be jealous. This week, at my favorite pub in KY--Pazzo's Pizza Pub-- they are holding the East vs. West challenge, where a beer from Stone goes up against a beer from Dogfish Head every night.
Greg Koch (who did an AWESOME interview with us!) is going to be there as well!!!!

I'm not going, so I haven't written too much about it! I was going to volunteer, but the Tahara festival is the same weekend...and I can't miss that !!! There won't be any craft beer there, but lots of good sake and friends!!!
If you pit Dogfish Head against Stone, I'm afraid that Stone is going to win nine times out of ten. Dogfish Head makes some good beer, but they also make a lot of bizarre beers that are really hard to drink. Stone, on the other hand, I can drink continuously all night -- and then ask for one more on the way out the door!
Chris, I am with you--I've never been a huge fan of Dogfish beers...I remember drinking Raison d'etre when I was a youngun and pouring it out! (I was a miller lite drinker then!) I have been reading Sam Calagione's book though...great stuff.
Ever since I first had Stone IPA a few years ago, I have been sold on them.

Just about anything you get from those guys will be some quality beer.

Can't argue with that lineup at all! Although for Dogfish Head I usually limit myself to the 60-minute and 90-minute.
I had a bottle of Stone Arrogant Bastard and one of Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA, and thought about this blog post. In my own personal battle of east vs west, west won in a landslide! The Arrogant Bastard was fantastic, the 90 Minute was kind of sweet and uninspiring.
I also had a bottle of Firestone Walker Union Jack IPA -- now THAT beer gave Arrogant Bastard a run for its money!!! I'll definitely be seeking out more of that.
