So after this Sunday's wedding I will be back to posting as usual. I have been scrambling to get all of the arrangements made for the wedding...and I hope it goes well. Michi's family arrives tomorrow: mom, dad, brother, his wife, and their FOUR kids. All staying at my place. Going to be fun!!!!!
I'm missing Japan, but enjoying life here. We will see what the future holds. Part of me can see me staying here for a long while, and another part of me can see me trying my hand at a good beer pub in Japan. One thing is for sure, I WILL have a house on the bay in Numazu to retire to. Chris, if you are reading, that means YOUR house. Upstairs toilet and all.
Just to let you all know, I'm still drinking good beer.

I did the same in San Diego over 15 years ago w/the Tokyo family flying in and getting a big taste of SoCal life. We had the wedding reception in my backyard--basically a raging keg party with lots of craziness going on.

Hide the good brewski and start putting in long hours. It's been 30 years since I did what you're doing. You'll soon be the proud owner of a new family that doesn't hold beer swilling to the lofty status it deserves. I must now sneak off for my weekly Stone fix.
